Among others, one of the most popular movie franchises in the world is Sylvester Stallone’s ‘Rocky’. The first movie came out in 1976 and turned out to be a huge hit, winning three academy awards. It also marked the rise of Stallone in Hollywood. Interestingly, after a total of 8 installments, the ninth is in the works, and MGM is planning to launch its 10th movie.

As soon as the news of the spinoff was announced, the internet was cluttered with mixed reactions from fans.

Fans are happy to hear the news of their favorite movie franchise getting another spinoff. However, some are also disappointed about it, and feel that somewhere these spinoffs have killed the essence of  ‘Rocky’.  

When Sylvester Stallone warned Roy Jones Jr. about Mike Tyson 

If someone has popularized boxing in Hollywood, it’s Sylvester Stallone. His 1976 hit film, ‘Rocky’ had taken the world by storm at the time. And since then, it has become a franchise that has earned over $1.4 billion at the box office. To no surprise, he has been a boxing fan since the beginning and never refrains from expressing the same.

In an instance that elaborates the same, Mike Tyson was returning to boxing after over 15 years. He was about to face Roy Jones Jr. inside the ring. Apparently, the Rocky star was asked about his views on the fight. He stated, “Everyone knows, Mike Tyson is a wrecking ball.” Furthermore, the Hollywood superstar also spoke of Jones Jr. in a good light, saying he is a great fighter. 

How Sylvester Stallone found inspiration to make Rocky from a Muhammad Ali fight 

Stallone was struggling to make a name for himself in Hollywood in the early 70s. He was chasing the American dream and was trying to make it to New York. As things were not going well for him, he headed to California.

One night, Stallone went to watch the fight between Muhammad Ali and Chuck Wepner, and he found it extremely extraordinary. The fight worked as a catalyst for him. Soon after, he completed the script for the movie in just three days. Although only about a third of that was used, it was the inception of something big.
