The upcoming movie in the Rocky spin-off franchise, Creed, will not feature Sylvester Stallone who began the journey in 1976. With Stallone standing by Michael B. Jordan’s side, the first two movies in the Creed franchise were hits, scoring well with the audience and fans of Rocky. Although Stallone himself wrote the franchise Rocky starting from 1976, he did not want to write ‘Creed’.

In an interview with Ellen, Stallone spoke about a generational gap and a changed attitude towards elements that initially encapsulated Rocky. “The reason I didn’t want to write it is because there’s a whole new generation. 40 years have passed. And what worked in my generation doesn’t exactly work in this generation. Everything’s just changed,” said Sylvester Stallone, while speaking about Creed.

When the “young filmmaker” approached Stallone for Creed, they had a very specific idea regarding how they would portray Michael B. Jordan on the screen. B. Jordan’s Creed was the sort of character who felt alienated being the illegitimate son of Apollo Creed. Certainly, the filmmakers emphasized the inner turmoil of Adonis Creed. “He just feels alienated. There’s something, there’s a hole in his heart. And he seeks out the one person that knew his father best,” said Sly, about the character Adonis Creed.

Stallone went on to paint the plot of the movie. While Rocky did not intend to develop any more relationships, Adonis Creed walked into his life. “But he comes in, and we start to develop this bond. And I (Rocky Balboa) realize he’s the one that’s keeping me alive. I’m trying to show him that life is worth living,” Stallone concluded.
