WBO Super Lightweight Champion, Teofimo Lopez is on the cusp of one of the biggest fights of his career. However, to reach this position in his professional boxing career, he’s had to pass through opponents he brilliantly fought against. As compensation for these big battles, he’s been paid handsomely as well. But how much has he made though?

On the 8th of February, at the iconic Michelob Ultra Arena in Las Vegas, the 26-year-old fighter will defend his title against the challenge of Massachusetts-based fighter, Jamaine Ortiz. In terms of money, this fight seems to be a big deal to him. However, in his 19-1 career, the cheques that he’s received have already braced him for that.

As per Caknowledge, the fighter today stands at an impressive total wealth of $5 million, and most of this money has come primarily through the fights that he’s undertaken. According to SportsPayouts, ‘The Takeover’ earned his fattest cheque for the Sandor Martin fight, which he undertook back in 2022. The Madison Square Garden bout saw Lopez register a split-decision victory. He reportedly earned a $3 million purse for the fight.

His 2021 fight against the Australian George Kambosos Jr., gave him his second big cheque. While he lost the coveted title defense in New York, he went home $2.1 million richer. Further, his third big payday came when he stepped up and moved to the super lightweight division, against the Mexican fame, Pedro Campa, Lopez fought for the vacant NABF and WBO International Super Lightweight title. After winning the fight through a 7th-round technical knockout, he amassed a sizeable payday with $1.7 million in the bank.

In October 2020, Teofimo Lopez undertook his maiden title challenge. In Las Vegas, he entered the ring to unify his IBF light belt with Vasyl Lomachenko’s WBA and WBO titles. By winning via a unanimous decision that night, the Takeover earned a $1.5 million cheque.

Last year, in his most recent fight against Josh Taylor at the Madison Square Garden, Lopez won the WBO and The Ring Super lightweight championship. Despite being the underdog against the undefeated champion, Lopez outclassed Josh Taylor to win by unanimous decision. For that confrontation, he earned a purse of $1.5 million. Additionally, Lopez had the opportunity to share in the revenue from pay-per-view sales, although the exact amount from the PPV share remains undisclosed. However, it is entirely plausible that Lopez made more money in total from his Josh Taylor fight than from all his earlier fights.
