“They Trying to Take My Freedom From Me”: Refusing to Talk About His Case, “Weary” Gervonta Davis’ Trainer Calvin Ford Opens Up After Being Released From Jail

Last year, Calvin Ford, the trainer of Gervonta Davis, now Abdul Wahid having converted to Islam, asked two men to transport a vehicle from Baltimore to Las Vegas for a certain amount of money. However, after the task was carried out, Ford claimed there were scratches on his car. Likewise, he only offered 1/4th of the money they had initially agreed on.

As the service providers protested and demanded the compensation they deserved, Gervonta Davis’ coach disclosed a gun and threatened them. Following this incident, he was arrested on felony assault charges. Recently, after he was released from jail, the trainer revealed his mental state in an interview.

Speaking to The Rize Podcast, Calvin Ford, the trainer of Gervonta Davis, revealed that he felt he was “weary” and finding himself. In his opinion, although going to jail affected him mentally, Allah gave him a chance to return to the core and begin life anew. Likewise, while the 58-year-old did not go into the details of his case, he realized he had a long road ahead of him. As a result, regarding his experience, Ford said, “It was mental. It gave me a chance to get back to where I was when I started this journey.

And even though Ford did not want to worry about the situation he was in, he was concerned about losing his freedom. “They trying to take my freedom from me. But again, Allah does things for reasons to get you back to the center. I understand I got a long road ahead of me,” Ford, the trainer of Gervonta Davis, continued.

Finally, the trainer of Gervonta Davis concluded that he was no longer an “average guy” and had to be “prepared”. Anyway, while Ford looked forward to beginning life anew, a close associate claimed Ford was not a man of violence.

Close associate claims the actuality of the incident remains unknown

Following Ford’s arrest, Elijah Claiborne, one of Ford’s close associates, claimed that the specifics of the incident were unknown to the public. According to him, people made assumptions. In his opinion, one has to understand the circumstances Gervonta Davis’ coach faced when the incident occurred. Likewise, he declared, “Calvin isn’t a man of violence at all.

I think a lot of people are taking this story and running with it with their own assumptions. But, they’re not actually knowing the actuality and circumstances of the situation itself,” he added.
