This injury looks like a serious one that could take the world champ out of action for quite some time. In addition, this will also add a dent in her plans for 2023 with Matchroom CEO Eddie Hearn planning fights with fellow champion Dina Thorslund

Bridges fires back at O’Connell following heated insults in the build-up

The match between the two fellow Australian boxers was filled with drama in its build-up. The majority of this was by O’Connell who was not shy to hurl insults at Bridges before the fight. This included her calling the champ a ‘skanky stripper’ aimed as an insult to Bridge’s Only fans account. However, after her victory, Bridges fired back at O’Connell and her entourage. In the post-fight interview, she stated that her performance was not bad for a ‘skanky stripper’. She also claimed that she did not intend to disrespect her opponent but was forced by O’Connell to act this way.

Not bad for a skanky stripper I must say, not bad for a skanky stripper, I’m not usually disrespectful to my opponent but she was so disrespectful to me the whole time. So I can’t really give her that much respect – she can hit but. She can bang.” she said

This rivalry might have been put to bed after Bridges’ dominant performance. However, given her current injury, it is likely she will not fight for the majority of next year.
