It must have taken some immense gumption for Jake Paul to enter the ring for the third time this year. Or perhaps, he’s a fighter rebuilding the legacies of a sport that once saw fighters take more than three fights in a year (remember Oscar De La Hoya winning 5 fights in 1997?). With more or less 3 weeks left for the fight, he recently spoke about the motivations that have propelled him toward his next opponent.

Come the 15th of December, Jake Paul will face off against Andre August at the Caribe Royale Orlando Arena. He comes riding high on his August win over former UFC fame, Nate Diaz, via unanimous decision. This victory was Paul’s moment of redemption after he registered his career’s first loss in February this year. The controversial fight saw his opponent, Tommy Fury, emerge victorious through a split decision. Now, he is ready to put his skills to the test against August.

Jake Paul sees Andre as a “Challenge” to himself

In a recent conversation with TMZ Sports, “Problem Child” heavily appreciated his upcoming opponent. Talking about August’s boxing prowess, Paul remarked, “He’s very strong, very athletic, comes forward, has great punching power, throws punches in bunches. A lot of combinations and hides some of his shots well, he works to the body.” Speaking about what he brings to the table, “He’s a great fighter and that’s why he’s ten and one and has been on a seven-fight win streak. So, I definitely have a real opponent in front of me and that’s when I wake up in the morning, I know this guy is coming to try to take my head off so, that motivates me, and I love taking hard fights like to challenge myself.”

Andre August was last seen in the ring in August this year against Brandon Martin. In his 10-year-long career, August has registered only one loss among the 12 fights he’s taken. His upcoming fight is the second one he has undertaken after having taken a long sabbatical since 2019. While the Paul-August fight’s fate will become clear on 15th December, there is another lucrative opportunity awaiting Problem Child.

Tentative Dates for Paul’s MMA Fight

According to Ariel Helwani, Paul is slated to enter the cage in early 2024. The revelation comes after he signed a lucrative deal with the PFL under their new PPV program fights. In a statement, the PFL chairman informed Helwani, “Jake Paul will fight in the PFL in Q4 of 2024.” The chairman, however, cited that the fighter needs a while of solid training to enter the cage given it’s just been a month since he began training.

This year has been quite eventful for the Problem Child. With one victory and one loss already in his kitty, his December fight offers him to break this balance he’s maintained. Once the August fight settles, he takes his fight to the cage. However, will he be able to take the MMA scene by storm as well as he’s done in the squared ring? Come 2024, the answers will emerge.
