Vasyl Lomachenko is on the path of redemption. The Ukrainian boxer is days away from his fight against Richard Commey and knows that a win will move him to a title shot. Ahead of his fight on December 11 at the Madison Square Garden in New York, Lomachenko spoke about what a ‘real champion’ is, according to him.

He said, “You can’t be world champion if you hold only one belt. You’re world champion, a real world champion, if you hold four belts. Three, two, or one – you are not a champion. You’re close to be world champion, but you are not a champion.”

Lomachenko, a former unified champion of the world, lost his belts to Teofimo Lopez in 2020. Despite that, he is still one of the best fighters in the division, if not the world.

Lomachenko’s ability to create space and maneuver his opponents using his movement is something that we have never seen in the ring before.

It is this exact ability that got him the moniker ‘The Matrix‘. As the Ukrainian will know the magnitude of his fight against Commey on December 11, it will be interesting to see how he fares.

Vasyl Lomachenko has his eyes set on becoming ‘undisputed’ world champion

Lomachenko reacted to George Kambosos Jr. beating Teofimo Lopez via decision and spoke about his plans to challenge for the belts again. Earlier, Teofimo Lopez had made it very clear that he would not fight Lomachenko again.

However, now that Kambosos Jr. is the champion, ‘Hi-Tech’ has a better chance of getting a title shot. Kambosos Jr. is a fearless boxer and will not shy away from a great challenge like Lomachenko. The fight will be beneficial for both fighters.

If Kambosos Jr can beat a seasoned vet, and one of the best boxers of all time; he will get the opportunity to cement his name in the history books. For Lomachenko, it is the best opportunity to become a ‘unified’ champion again and then look to become the ‘undisputed’ champion.
