Muhammad Ali had shared his secrets of success with his grandson, Nico Ali Walsh, before his death. Now, that advice can finally come to fruition when Walsh takes on Jordan Weeks on August 14. Continuing Ali’s legacy, Nico Ali Walsh has also joined hands with Bob Arum’s Top Rank. He will debut against a surging star in Jordan Weeks, 4-1 as a pro boxer.
Meanwhile, the social media page of Top Rank posted a clip that showed Muhammad Ali in a video chat with his grandson. Ali was already in his last days when the interaction happened. The heavyweight legend barely spoke, but still passed down some important regimes of becoming a world champion pugilist.
Muhammad Ali said, “Stay in shape. Do plenty of road work. Eat right.”

Ali last fought in 1981 and retired after losing to Larry Holmes and Trevor Berbick. However, he remained relevant in the boxing world all the time. Even after he died in 2016, ‘The Greatest’ continued to leave his impact on the modern-day boxers.
That said, Nico Ali Walsh will represent a huge legacy in the sport. This will bring him extra attention and stardom, but it can also be an added pressure for the middleweight fighter. His upcoming opponent, Jordan Weeks, who was on a 4-fight win streak, suffered his maiden loss against Ricardo Vasquez Becerril. He is now looking to rebound on the win-track with a monumental victory.

Can Nico Ali Walsh channelize his inner Muhammad Ali?
Muhammad Ali made his debut against Tunney Hunsaker, a 27-fight veteran, in 1965. He scored a lopsided win and began his pro-carer on a high note. Hence, Jordan Weeks’ 4-1 record might not be very threatening for Nico Ali Walsh.
