As he can now expect bigger fights including a move to the 147 lbs division, Taylor’s humble approach impressed many. That said, he no longer holds any grudges with Jose Ramirez.
Both ‘Jaguar’ Jose Ramirez and ‘The Tartan Tornado’ Josh Taylor had several verbal wars in the fight week. It appeared to be a bad blood rivalry. Hence, their in-ring collision was expected to be intense. The bout lived up to expectations, and both men had their moments.
However, once the bout got over, the pugilists left their rivalry in the ring and departed with mutual respect. They hailed each other and admitted that they trash-talked to get under each other’s nerves.
Josh Taylor Demolishes Jose Ramirez to Become the Undisputed Super-Lightweight Champion
What’s next for Josh Taylor and Jose Ramirez?
Ramirez, 26-1, is not expected to quit the super lightweight division anytime soon. He has been on a tear over there and the maiden loss can make him even stronger. So, ‘Jaguar’ might be a win away from claiming another title shot. But Josh Taylor’s next move can influence Ramirez’s decision.
If Josh Taylor moves up to the welterweight unit, he might have to vacate a few titles. Or else, he would have to defend his respective belts (WBC, WBA, WBO, IBF, Ring) against the mandatory contenders. In that case, Josh Taylor vs Jose Ramirez 2 would be a possible matchup.
