The recent clash between Liam Smith and Hassan Mwakinyo has gained the attention of the entire world. The two squared off inside the squared circle on September 3rd, at the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool. Smith was a heavy favorite as the bout took place in his hometown. He won the fight, however; it did not happen the way he expected it to.

Both fighters being good punchers, the fight was expected to be an exciting brawl. However, the Tanzanian lost balance and fell to the ground near his corner due to an ankle injury. The Liverpool fighter landed a flurry of punches, and the referee took it as a sign of surrender from Mwakinyo. Following Smith’s victory, fans have been commenting about the fight on the internet.

Liam Smith comments on his recent victory over Hassan Mwakinyo 

The Tanzanian fighter is known for his hard punches. He last fought in the UK against Sam Eggington in Birmingham. Now the audience was eagerly anticipating the Smith vs. Mwakinyo fight. The latter lost the fight as he was unable to stay on his foot due to an ankle injury. However, fans felt that it was just a way to quit. Take a look at what Smith has to say about it.

Smith stated, “I don’t know what happened. I didn’t really do too much early on because Hassan was wild. I’m a bit gutted. I never gave the fans a proper finish, but it’s out of my hands. He said he slipped, he just quit, it doesn’t take a genius to work that out. I said about the sparring story. I knew he had it in him.”

The British boxer has been strutting his way to brilliance with his excellent performances. He has been asking for bigger fights for quite a time now. He further added, “Just get me a big fight, I’ve been moaning about it for ages, people are probably bored of me saying it.”
