Canelo Alvarez’s love for golf is very well known to anyone who has been following the fighter for a while. He has received a lot of criticism for this passion from fans as well as other boxing experts. Even after his loss against Dmitry Bivol, he went golfing. He claimed that the sport helps him develop mental focus and he dedicates several hours to it every day. Moreover, when his fight against Jermell Charlo was announced, Canelo Alvarez was heavily involved in playing golf. This caused a lot of boxing enthusiasts to criticize him.

However, even that didn’t stop him from pursuing his second passion. Interestingly he even won the Golf Arnie Award earlier this year and as the fight is now only a day away from taking place, he is back at his hobby. Recently, WBC Boxing shared a video of Alvarez playing miniature golf on their Instagram account. In the caption, they wrote, “Yes, @canelo is great at golf too. No boxing, no life.” They also added a quote from Alvarez, “No golf, no life.” Alvarez looked calm and collected as he relaxed a day before the title bout. As the video of the undisputed champion enjoying his second passion surfaced, it received mixed responses from fans. Fans were not impressed with how he played the shot.

One fan was not happy with the post and stated that Alvarez putting the ball was not at all impressive. He wrote, “Lmaoooo bro!!!! Wtf was that? My 9 year old probably goes 5/10 on this”.

Another fan chimed in and claimed, “That doesn’t count as golf.”

However, not all responses criticized the post, there were many who came out in support of Alvarez. One fan remarked, “few warm up putts before he waxes charlo”.

Meanwhile, someone else brought Oscar De La Hoya into the conversation and pointed out that the promoter used to blast Alvarez for playing too much golf prior to his Dimitry Bivol bout. The fan also pointed out how training for a fight can be “grueling” and thus it’s understandable to “cut back a little” sometimes.

One fan praised Alvarez’s skills as a golfer and wrote, “As a boxer he’s a good golfer.”

Another fan jumped in and remarked, “My dog could have made that putt”.

Moreover, someone else claimed that De La Hoya would beat Canelo in golf stating, “hes been playing since the 90s.”
