Muhammad Ali, often regarded as the greatest sports persona of the 20th century, was a revolution in heavyweight boxing. The sport which was being played for centuries touched its pinnacle. Recently, discussing Ali’s first title shot against another legendary heavyweight Sonny Liston, the most decorated UFC commentator, Joe Rogan build the bridges of Ali’s admiration. While watching the highlights of Ali’s boxing career along with the renowned comedian Dave Smith, the duo agreed that it was frustrating to lock horns with Ali.

According to Rogan, the former three-time heavyweight champion was ahead of time because nobody had seen a heavyweight move so fast with such a command in the ring.

Talking about Ali, Rogan put the legend’s fight highlights on screen. The video showed Ali’s dominance over Cleveland Williams, one of the finest boxers, who could never win a title.

While watching, Rogan displayed his commentating skills. He began, “he starts tagging them, and now Cleveland’s confused because now he’s getting hurt. He’s getting hurt by this guy’s moving backward. He can’t hit him. Look at that, jab, look at that Jab, dude, I mean, and his hands are low and he steps in with a left hook, Jab to the body, and now he starts to peace him up.”

Rogan continued, “And when he starts connecting with them, you could see the magic that he had back then. It was just, there were combinations. That came from him that you never saw heavyweight throw.”

Later, he compared Ali’s punch combinations with Sugar Ray Robinson, one of the greatest fighters of all time. Notably, Robinson fought in lower-weight divisions. Therefore, Ali’s speed seemed to be unbelievable at 200-plus pounds.
