In May of this year, Devin Haney fought and defeated former champion, Vasiliy Lomachenko via a controversial decision. However, in the post-fight interview, the undisputed Lightweight champion expressed his desire to move up in weight division. Moreover, only a month back in April, Featherweight champion, Shakur Stevenson made his lightweight debut. ‘The Dream,’ then contemplated keeping his desire to move up in abeyance to face, ‘Sugar,’ in the lightweight division. Moreover, their bout was close to being finalized. However, both young boxers could not agree to their purse split.
Subsequently, Haney resorted to moving up a weight class and is set to face Regis Prograis for the WBC super-lightweight title. Moreover, in a recent turn of events, Stevenson was asked to weigh in on this match-up. Who does he predict will be the victor? How does he see it playing out?

The super-lightweight title bout is set to take place on December 9 in San Francisco. Prograis is the current champion and Haney, while making his super-lightweight debut is the challenger. Both boxers have fought as many times inside the squared circle but unlike Haney, Prograis has a loss in his record. Moreover, this match-up has the boxing world in splits. Many find it hard to put a finger on who can be the victor as many questions are unanswered or unknown.
Intriguingly, Stevenson was asked to weigh in on this match-up. Back in the nascent stages of their career, Stevenson and Haney sparred each other. Subsequently, his insight and opinion on the match-up are of great relevance. In a recent interview with @Millcityboxing, Stevenson claimed that the match-up is intriguing but he cannot come to a decisive prediction as he is unsure how Haney is fair against boxers at a higher weight division. Reflecting on the same, he stated, “I don’t know, they both are coming off mediocre performances. It’s going to be a good fight. We’ll see if Devin can handle that power at 140.”
