The New Orleans Pelican are riding high after their dominant victory over the Toronto Raptors 139-98 and big man Zion Williamson helped his team secure the dub with 16 points, 8 rebounds, and 9 assists but that’s not all that he did! In the post-game interview, when asked about the All-Star game, Zion stated, “I gotta do my part and make the All-Star game. If I’m in the All-Star game, I’ll do the dunk-contest but if I’m not, not doing it.” With that statement, the internet went into a frenzy with overwhelming support from fans all over.

In the recent All-Star weekend, Jaylen Brown was the sole All-Star participant in the Dunk Contest. He attempted to replicate Dee Brown’s iconic 1991 dunk by leaping over Kai Cenat and dunking blindfolded. While not perfect, the dunk earned him a score of 47.6 and secured his place in the next round. Ultimately, Brown was outshined by G-Leaguer Mac McClung’s gravity-defying dunks and fell short of the title, and even received some “boos” from the crowd.
Fit and Firing
At 23 years of age, Zion Williamson has already been named an All-Star twice. The first instance happened in his second year in the NBA and the second time, last year. Despite dishing out an average of 22.1 points and 5.1 assists, Zion wasn’t selected this season. Ever since Zion has been trying to get into shape this year, he has shown a stark progression to higher numbers. He has been averaging 23.7 points per game, 4.8 rebounds per game, 5.8 points per game and a 56 percent shooting percentage from the field across his last 18 games.
