The question of the Greatest of All Time WWE has always been a debatable one. While WWE has given many candidates worthy enough for the throne, the answer is never unanimous. Two of WWE’s greatest superstars appeared on the recent episode of SmackDown in Denver, Colorado and the moment has again initiated the debate.

While many would consider Hulk Hogan, Stone Cold, or The Rock to be the greatest, another superstar is being referred to as the greatest within the company. But who is the guy to better Austin, Rock, and Hogan?

John Cena ‘Greatest of All Time’ or not?

A wrestling fan on X with the handle name @Bub3m16 tweeted on September 17th about the ‘Greatest of all Time’. It was uploaded with a picture of John Cena and The Rock from their historic WrestleMania 29 match.

The caption read, “John Cena is now internally referred to as the “Greatest of All Time” 🐐 (Fightful). #SmackDown” It was a reference to The Rock acknowledging John Cena’s work in WWE. The Rock and John Cena met each other during a backstage segment in the recent episode of SmackDown where they embraced each other with a hug.

To John Cena’s credit, he has achieved a lot in the pro wrestling business. He holds the record for 16 WWE Championships along with 5 WrestleMania main events. He has been the poster boy for WWE for over a decade and is the most popular WWE superstar to transition from wrestling to Hollywood successfully, after Dwayne Johnson.

But there are other metrics other than achievements and stardom to settle the debate of G.O.A.T. Cena has been often criticized for his in-ring workability, despite his commitment level and athletic ability. However, an AEW superstar has shown support for Cena in a recent interview with Fightful.

AEW superstar Shawn Spears show support for John Cena

Shawn Spears of AEW talked to Fightful in an interview published on 7th September. Shawn Spears, who fought John Cena in 2007 at OVW, praised Cena for his professionalism and workability.

He said, “To his credit, he is one of the absolute professional athletes on this planet. A lot of people will give John slack about his wrestling ability, say whatever you want about his wrestling ability, he is one of the greatest workers, and there is a difference between working and wrestling, he’s one of the greatest workers of all time.”
