WWE Legend John Cena was invited to the popular wrestling podcast Insight with Chris Van Vliet in a recent episode where he discussed his title runs and the possibility of clinching his 17th title, meeting MJF, his plans to turn heel in 2012, and his match with Bray Wyatt. During a segment in the podcast, he also discussed The Rock’s recent heel turn on SmackDown. While discussing the same, the veteran shows his experience to signal out a minute but vital detail about the ongoing storyline, involving The Rock.

John Cena has a different outlook on The Rock’s heel turn

When Chris Van Vliet asked John Cena about his opinion on The Rock’s heel turn, he responded with a casual tone about it. He said, “I don’t know what to think of it yet. I like what he did when he was Hollywood Rock. I’d have to see the end result and I love being surprised.

Cena being a veteran in the industry, has a different outlook in the business. He pointed out that the crowd was not angry with The Rock’s intervention and backed it up with a logical claim. He said, “I think there is an underlying sense of feeling that they are angry, their expectations were changed. The metric I use, from my own path of polarization. They did a segment that was heavily disliked. I think it was the most disliked segment in the WWE social history. How many WrestleMania refund tickets did you see? Zero.

The segment in reference is from the episode of SmackDown on 2nd February when The Rock intervened to have a stare-down with Roman Reigns. It was a hint towards a dream WrestleMania match between them, however, it came at the cost of Cody Rhodes and him completing his 2-year long story. Hence, the fans are unhappy with his inclusion with some fans accusing him of hijacking Cody’s moment.

But John Cena feels that The Rock is doing what’s good for the business as he points out that the fans are polarized and invested in the storyline, and not angry. He also thinks The Rock is a box-office attraction no matter what. To back his claims, he points out that the segment made the record for the most disliked segment in WWE. He also pointed out that none of the fans have asked for a refund despite their disapproval of The Rock vs. Roman Reigns main event.
