“Don’t Know How That Stuck in There”: Eugenie Bouchard Debunks Herself While Promoting Her Home Country Canada

Recently, Canadian tennis player, Eugenie Bouchard, joined the TennisChannel as a commentator. In just a week, she’s become an instant hit with the audience. Promoting the greatness of her country, Bouchard kicked off the Canadian tennis swing on the TennisChannel.
The 2021 National Bank Open has already begun, with the men’s event taking place at the Aviva Centre in Toronto, and the women’s tournament at the IGA Stadium in Montreal.

Resident expert on all things Canada, Bouchard will offer commentary during the National Bank Open. In a short video, the WTA star spoke about Canada being the birthplace of some incredible personalities like Justin Bieber, Ryan Gosling, Drake, etc. who have achieved worldwide recognition.
When Bouchard’s own picture came up in the list of famous Canadian people, she said jokingly “Don’t know how that stuck in there.”

However, Bouchard mentioned that although Canadians are kind-hearted people, they are fierce competitors as well. With top Canadian players like Denis Shapovalov, Felix Auger-Aliassime, and the 2019 US Open champion Bianca Andreescu competing at the Rogers Cup, Bouchard launched live action of the tournament on the TennisChannel.

“My home country is a beautiful place and the world’s best players descent on Toronto and Montreal,” said Bouchard.

Out of action since March, Bouchard has been recovering from arthroscopic shoulder surgery. She last played at the Monterrey Open, since then she has been in rehabilitation mode.
Last year, the National Bank Open got canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The 20-time Grand Slam champion, Rafael Nadal, and Bianca Andreescu are the defending champions on the men’s and women’s fields, respectively.
On the men’s side, Roger Federer has withdrawn from Canadian Open and Cincinnati Masters as well, citing a knee injury. In addition, Novak Djokovic has also pulled out from both tournaments since he wants to recover after an exhausting season.

On the women’s side, the 23-time Grand Slam champion Serena Williams and World No.9 Simona Halep have skipped the National Bank Open. However, Naomi Osaka makes a return on the tour after over two months, who had been out of action on grounds of mental health.
