Video game adaptations are a big part of how the world perceives gaming. Contrary to popular belief, games are not all about shooting or fighting your way through enemies. They contain stories and characters rich in history and backstories. The Last of Us is a classic example. It played a big part in solidifying the future of video game adaptations. Following the success of The Last of Us, it looks like PlayStation has new contenders for video game adaptations, with some top exclusives set to follow in the footsteps of the aforementioned title.

Video game adaptations are increasing in popularity. From Tom Holland as Nathan Drake in Uncharted, to the upcoming Gran Turismo starring Archie Madekwe and Stranger Things Alum David Harbour, there is a long list of video game adaptations. And now, gamers might be getting more.

Ever since the success of The Last of Us series and the Super Mario Bros. movie, video game developers felt the ripple effect. Titles with good narrative journeys found themselves at the heart of speculation. Fans wanted adaptations of a lot of these titles. And following the video posted on the PlayStation Productions website, looks like Days Gone and MediEvil have been green lit.

The video had multiple characters present as the narrator explained the vision PlayStation Productions had for their adaptations. They noticed a pair of bony legs that most fans think belong to Sir Daniel Foresque, the protagonist of the MediEvil franchise. MediEvil was released on the PS4 in 2019.

In addition to this, fans also spotted Deacon St. John, the main character from Days Gone, or at least someone who looks like him. Interestingly, there was speculation about a Days Gone movie last year, but the rumors died down. Could this be PlayStation’s way of hinting at it?

If these movies end up being made, it will be a massive moment for the gaming world. It could also prompt Xbox to bring its own video game adaptations.

While these adaptations look likely to come out in the future, with the video giving hints, they might not go with the movie route with both of them. MediEvil can see a movie, but Days Gone may see a different route in terms of how the adaptation plays out.

Producers may choose to go with the show adaptation route with Days Gone. Seeing how it allowed producers to flesh out the story with The Last of Us, Days Gone could take a similar path. It has a rich storyline that leaves fans wanting more. Instead of compressing it down into a 2-3 hour movie, it might be better to see a series for 10 episodes or more.
