Every new Call of Duty installment tends to bring a lot of new innovations and experiences to the FPS community. But the reception to Modern Warfare 3 has been quite an interesting story. The latest release of the CoD franchise has been making headlines, but not always  for the right reasons. A new MW3 feature being nerfed by the developers has been strongly rejected by the players.

Ever since the beta run, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has left the FPS enthusiasts divided on the experience. While the multiplayer has appealed to a strong share of active player counts across all the platforms, a lot of features in the mode have been called out by veteran CoD fans. Now, a Reddit user has raised concerns against the zombies mode for allegedly spoiling the experience with weapon upgrades!

From the weapon armory system to noob tubing, players have many reasons to be unimpressed with Activision’s latest title. The debut of zombies in the Modern Warfare series has seemingly not had the impact the devs would have hoped. Apparently, one big reason for such a reception is pointed out by a Reddit user.

According to the user’s claims, the weapon upgradation in the new CoD world is time consuming. Moreover, the players who were using the zombie encounters to level up their arsenal faster are enraged after the devs decided to nerf the loophole.

If people are willing to sit for 2+ hours mindlessly shooting zombies to level their gun, maybe you should address the fact it takes 2 fu*cking hours mindlessly shooting zombies to level guns rather than nuking the ability to do it. There are 36 of these goddamn things, even with double xp tokens it was taking upwards of 100 hours just to get all of them max rank. Back in MW 2019 I used to max a weapon out in under an hour playing regular 6v6 TDM WITHOUT double weapon XP. Now with one and using a farming method it’s still over 2x longer,” the user wrote.

Adding to the rant, the CoD fan made a demand from the developers to “double the XP gain” across the board. And it seems like the user wasn’t the only one who was frustrated with the decision.

Fans nod in agreement

The Reddit rant was enough to invite a lot of furious reactions from the community who were in complete agreement with the user’s call out. In fact, a lot of other netizens also believed that the decision to nerf the advantage would only make things worse for CoD.

A user wrote, Just grinding for the sake of grinding is the fastest way to burn out in games fwiw”, agreeing to the fact that too many experiments to make would make them lose the player base.

Another CoD fan who is unhappy with the latest developments wrote, they see people doing a specific way to level up guns faster and they nerf it to extend the grind. Cod devs are always trying to make things more grindy and worse for the players, it’s deliberate.”

What’s the harm if someone wants to queue up solo and farm an exfil with just the gun they wanna level up? who’s it harming?”, a player added to the discussion speaking against the nerf.

A player made a sarcastic comment on the recent decision-making of the developers. Getting rid of hordes in a horde game mode. Classic cod”, the comment reads.

Another fan threw heat at the progress of Call of Duty multiplayer mode as they wrote, More evidence that MWZ is actually just MWZ Beta.”
