Everyone seems to be a fan of video games, no matter what profession they belong to. This fact was proven recently when the famous director duo of the Russo Brothers interacted with a media outlet and showed how good gaming critics they are. Apparently, they also expressed their deep love for a specific PlayStation exclusive from Naughty Dog.

Well, this title is none other than the iconic The Last of Us. The game series first began in 2013 and so far has witnessed two installments. But the fans of this saga are still in love with its characters and overall world-building. It looks like the Russo Brothers have a similar opinion as well about the legendary PlayStation franchise.

Joe and Anthony Russo rate The Last of Us Part II higher than Capcom’s Resident Evil Village!

The directors of MCU’s Avengers: Endgame recently interacted with popular outlet IGN to promote their new film The Gray Man. It’s released in theaters already and will soon arrive on the streaming platform Netflix.

From Overwatch 2 to Call of Duty – These Are the Best PlayStation 5 Games Releasing in October 2022

IGN kept a session for Joe and Anthony in which they had to rate multiple video games based on their chase scenes. That’s because their latest movie also features lots of intense and high-octane action sequences.

Now the two were going through brief clips from multiple titles such as the beloved Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, Crash Bandicoot 4: It Takes Time, and Heavy Rain. There were other games as well, with the likes of It Takes Two, Resident Evil Village, and also The Last of Us Part II.

It seems like impressing the Russo Brothers is a tough job, especially when it comes to games with action scenes. It was quite evident to see as they gave average to above-average scores to most of the titles they saw. Surprisingly, even Resident Evil Village got a mediocre 5 out of 10 from the two. Joe called it an “example of an action sequence with very little character in it”.

His reason for giving the Capcom blockbuster a lower rating was due to the fact that he’s not a fan of first-person perspective and Resident Evil Village is, in fact, a first-person title. Thus, Joe didn’t like it that much. According to him, this kind of view takes away the “emotional expression from the actor”.

On the other hand, the duo were thoroughly impressed by the PlayStation exclusive The Last of Us Part II. Joe even called it “one of the greatest games ever made”. The director said that the scene, that he saw from the game, had “good use of a limited point of view, good sound design. I mean, this is a page out of Spielberg’s Playbook”. Coming as no surprise, the title received a solid 9 0ut of 10 from the duo.

Now, what more could a video game demand for? Receiving such acclaim is surely amazing, especially for the team of Naughty Dog who made the beloved PlayStation series. Neil Druckmann will definitely reach out to Joe and Anthony once he sees this video.
