

Bungie is a developer known for designing some really exciting experiences. From Halo to Destiny 2, they have always been successful in developing properties exciting enough to garner a huge fanbase. Maybe that is why Sony decided to partner with this developer to work on a new multiplayer experience for PlayStation 5.

It is exciting news for sure, and recently there’s been a very interesting development in this story. It appears Bungie is set to make a big change for this upcoming game!

Bungie will not be using Destiny 2’s Tiger engine for their next title
Ever since they developed the first Halo title, Bungie has used its own proprietary game engine. For Halo, they used an engine called Blam! Eventually, when the time came, they decided to move on from Blam! to something more modern, hence, Blam! evolved into the Tiger Engine.

The first game to use a proper independent version of this engine was Destiny, and there’s no doubt it looked incredible. Furthermore, the next-gen version of their superhit title, Destiny 2, blew everyone away with its visuals.

But it looks like Bungie has once again decided to move on to a more modern solution. A recent job posting at Bungie says they are looking for an Incubation Gameplay Engineering Lead. A very peculiar detail about this job posting is that it requires applicants to have experience with development using the Unreal Engine.

It would be very interesting to see what they are working on next. Whatever they might develop, it would surely be of epic proportions, as all of their games usually are.

Choosing the Unreal Engine makes sense!
Bungie going for Unreal Engine really makes sense; Epic Games has worked on this engine to make it one of the most robust toolsets available out there. Fans can see a glimpse of its capabilities in Fortnite and a number of demos that Epic Games has released on the internet.

Most exciting is their Lumen global illumination and reflection technology. It has come up as a less power-hungry rival to the usual ray tracing solutions that are more common nowadays.
