Battle Royales have seen a growing trend of a larger storyline surrounding the background as players continue to lock heads on the battlefield. Fortnite is no different. Since its release, developers have crafted a storyline that has reshaped the plot entirely. The journey in the game now lies in the fourth chapter’s second season. Can Epic keep the storyline gripping enough to keep its player base hooked?

Season 3 looms as fans continue to speculate where the story goes this time. However, not all fans seem happy with the path Epic is taking with the plot.

Fortnite fans take to social media to express opinions about the story

The events of Fortnite’s story usually take place in the form of large spectacles in the game. These events allow players to interact with them and watch them as they unfold in-game. However, fans have taken to Twitter to express their disappointment with the direction Epic Games is taking for the plot of Fortnite.

Similarly, another user spoke about the story not going anywhere, only creating suspense without a destination that does not do justice to the way it is built.

The story so far has taken multiple twists and turns, with so many different plotlines going on that it can get confusing for fans. With the looming arrival of Season 3, it looks as if Fortnite fans need a change for the ongoing storyline.

One fan got nostalgic about the simplicity of the plot in the early days of Chapter 1, saying, “Fortnite lore was peak in Chapter 1. I used to watch AliA run down the story daily.”

The player base’s reactions on Twitter were just more evidence of the way Fortnite’s storyline was getting more confusing as players got tangled in the web of plots being woven.

The four chapters of Fortnite have been filled with a multitude of storylines. From the initial island, the game has now brought in a Japanese Neo-Cyberpunk aesthetic as the island has seen a plethora of changes.

The story of Fortnite has not revolved around a single person but around a zero point. The zero point is responsible for the creation of the universe, with the Big Bang taking place before the start of the first chapter.

Beings fight for control over the zero point because it is connected to different realities. A group called the ‘Seven’ work to liberate the zero point from the control of different entities. These entities seek to harness the zero point’s energy for themselves. All of this has now culminated in a huge inter-syndicate war that will come sometime in the future. Fans expect this to occur in the following season.

Given the events that have taken place in the Fortnite universe in previous seasons, Epic has set high standards for itself. The way they create this plotline will determine if fans remain invested in the story.
