Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 3 is coming to fans on June 9. With the launch of the new season, a ton of new features are also coming to the battle royale. New biomes, a summer Meowscles skin, and a Transformers collab are a few of the rumors about the upcoming season.

In the wake of the new season, Epic Games has announced changes in the monetary payouts for Fortnite creators as well. The higher-ups at Epic Games are also praising this new metric. However, the success of these measures will only be revealed with time. The studio’s changes will be reflected in the upcoming April reimbursements.

Epic Games announced the addition of a new measure to the Fortnite Engagement Payout 2.0 in a recent official Fortnite blog article. This metric is an update to the new payout implemented by Epic Games on March 2023. The time spent in-game will now be included when determining the content creator’s remuneration. This will prompt many creators to spend more time on their islands.

This new metric will join player popularity and retention metrics to determine the overall payout for the creators. However, Epic Games has nerfed the other metrics as compared to the time played metric. The studio has also mentioned equating the weightage of each metric over the period of time as creators get more retention and user acquisitions.

At first, this new metric may confuse creators on how it will be implemented, Epic Games’ officials think otherwise. The executive vice president of Epic Games has come in support of this new metric.

In an interview with GamesBeat, Sax Persson, executive vice president of Epic Games, believed this new metric would result in more money for Fortnite creators in the upcoming April payout. The new payout method is already paying out creators a lot more than the earlier method. Including the new update, over 200 creators would earn more than $100,000 per year.
