There’s an interesting theory revolving around the blockbuster GTA V. This theory suggests that Trevor, Michael, and Franklin represent three different generations of gamers and their playing styles. These generations are also theorized to be the very community that has been associated with the franchise’s 24-years span.

Franklin, Trevor, and Michael all represent three different phases of the evolution of Rockstar’s fan-favorite title. This theory would make sense since all the three characters seem to respond to certain situations in entirely different ways, which can be attributed to their specific experiences and lives.

Michael is Claude

This fan theory covers two titles from the franchise. It suggests that Michael from GTA V is actually GTA 3’s Claude. According to this theory, Michael’s life of crime began when he was Claude. The connection may hold some possibilities as many aspects of the two characters align perfectly, including the timeline as well as the character designs.

Ryder wasn’t supposed to be a bad character

Ryder from GTA San Andreas may not have been created to be a villain. A last-minute change in the story is speculated by the community because of certain incidents in the game. For example, the game’s main protagonist doesn’t mention Ryder’s betrayal until the last mission, where he meets his end.

GTA 6 to Have an Ever-Evolving Map With Regular Updates and Vice City as Main Setting: Reports

Franklin as social commentary on racial profiling

Rockstar Games never shies away from making explicit dives into social studies. Hence, it isn’t too far-fetched an idea to think that the character of Franklin from GTA V is used to highlight racial profiling in today’s American society. Police attitude towards Franklin is visibly different when compared to how the two other main characters are dealt with by the cops. Hence, such a theory isn’t entirely baseless.

Intentional delay by Big Smoke

Number 9 large, a number 6 with extra dip“, the dialogue from GTA San Andreas has now become pretty much iconic. The scenario where the line is spoken is one of the pivotal moments of the game that changes its narrative considerably. Many believe that Big Smoke intentionally made a large order in order to buy some time. The extra seconds were enough for the rival group to gang up on CJ while Big Smoke enjoyed his meal.

Big Smoke’s intentions to kill Sweet

If Big Smoke’s intentional delay wasn’t enough, fans have also speculated about some more sinister activities by him in GTA San Andreas. Many believe that following his betrayal of CJ, Big Smoke went to the latter’s house looking for a chance to kill Sweet. Eliminating CJ’s brother would ensure Big Smoke’s control over the Grove Street Families once and for all. Additionally, since Smoke was also not seen at CJ’s mother’s funeral, this theory gains all the more credibility within the community.

Trevor killed his own mother

This theory, which is a deep discussion about Trevor’s psyche, proposes that the vision Trevor saw during the Strangers and Freaks mission was essentially a hallucination. Trevor’s troubled childhood can become too apparent at times when playing the game. Along with that, he also seems to be carrying some serious guilt with him. Connecting the dots, fans believe that Trevor may have killed his mother, which would explain why she is not seen again after the mission.

The ghost of Mount Gordo

If you visit Mount Gordo and stay there till 11 PM, in-game time, you may witness something supernatural. The true identity of the ghost of Mount Gordo hasn’t been made official by the devs, but fans have theorized that it is the spirit of Jock Cranley’s wife. The politician’s wife tragically fell to her death near a cliff, which may well be Mount Gordo.

Brad’s bullet was actually meant for Trevor

One of GTA V’s pivotal scenes could have played out very differently. Dave Norton’s bullet took down Brad, but fans believe that it may have been actually meant for Trevor. Regardless of whether the bullet was intended for Michael or Trevor, Brad was shot because he was at the wrong place at the wrong time. If things did happen differently, the subsequent storyline would’ve also changed significantly.

Bigfoot

While the character is yet to be discovered in any of the GTA titles, fan speculation hasn’t lost any enthusiasm. The speculation was sparked in GTA San Andreas, and GTA V also managed to give out veiled references to Bigfoot on multiple occasions.
