Nintendo is nowadays at the top of its game. The Japanese game giant is today known for its varied genres of games, each consisting of numerous exciting, unmissable titles. But how did this company get here? There have been several factors contributing to their success and their evolution. One of those factors has been Retro Studios, the developers who pushed for something different.
Retro Studios is known for developing the Donkey Kong and Metroid Prime series, two franchises that are well known for their role in Nintendo’s popularity. Metroid Prime is much more important given how this franchise gave it a whole new perspective.

Retro Studios then swooped in and offered to make a game for Nintendo. They created a new engine for it, and then, after some hiccups, Shigeru Miyamoto convinced Nintendo to allow Retro to work on the Metroid License. Retro used that brand new engine to bring the Metroid series to the 3D era with their first-person shooter game, Metroid Prime. A game that changed people’s perspective on Nintendo
It was a beautiful and robust game full of distinctive environments and exciting boss battles. The game launched for the Nintendo GameCube, and the Metroid Prime series started. Eventually, the series spawned two sequels and two handheld installments. The sequels were as well received as the original, while the side games on handhelds got mixed responses from fans.

All in all, the developer made such a mark on Nintendo’s history with just one game that, after a bunch of side projects such as Mario Kart 7 and Donkey Kong Country Returns titles, Nintendo has tasked them to develop Metroid Prime 4.
I wonder how the latest installment in the Metroid Prime series is going.
While they have been tasked with developing Metroid Prime 4, they are talking about getting the game together. It looks like this game will only be launching alongside Nintendo’s much-awaited new console, the Nintendo Switch 2.

Fans might know that Nintendo only tasked Retro Studios with developing Metroid Prime 4 after they were not satisfied with the results Namco Bandai presented. Nevertheless, it looks like Retro is once again here to give Nintendo and their fans something mind-blowing.
