PlayStation 5 was launched in 2020 to a tremendous response. It was launched amidst the ongoing pandemic and semiconductor shortage. And due to both these issues, it was a little harder for fans to get their hands on one.
The shortage was made worse by the number of scalpers who were going at existing stock with their bots while the console was getting some really good games. While the console had a bunch of really exciting features and a revolutionary controller, it was still far away from people’s hands.
But recently, during CES 2023, Sony made a surprising announcement!

PlayStation 5 has finally hit a huge milestone!
During 2023’s Consumer Electric Show Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Jim Ryan made an announcement that PlayStation 5 has finally hit a sales milestone of 30 million units. Selling 30 million units in two years amidst heavy shortage is nothing short of excellent.
Fans did not see it as a surprising announcement. But when Jim Ryan announced that there would be more PlayStation 5 consoles available in stores to buy as the stock has stabilized, fans who have yet to get their hands on this console got pretty excited.

Even better news is the diminishing interest of scalpers for PlayStation 5. And so, it appears fans can now just walk into a store and get themselves a PlayStation 5.
And with games like Spider-Man 2 and Final Fantasy XVI on their way this year, it is just the right time for better stocks.
Fans have a polarizing response to this new announcement
Sony PlayStation fans had a divided response to this stock update. While some are expressing their excitement about finally getting a PS5, others are just mentioning that they would rather wait for the upcoming slim model with the detachable disk drive.
PS5 will be “much easier” to buy from this point forward, says PlayStation boss Jim Ryan 🔥
