During the interview, Bryan acknowledges these concerns and debates on the price. He then emphasizes that his team’s primary focus is delivering the best possible gaming experience. The creative director explains that the goal is to ensure that players feel that the game is worth the investment – “Our job is to make sure that you feel no matter how long it is, it’s worth that money, it’s worth that investment.” He states that it’s not about gameplay hours and that Insomniac aims to provide players with an immersive and engaging experience, one that connects with players on a deeper level.

He continued to say that they estimated the main story mission to take about 15 hours. But with additional side missions and content, they estimate the total gameplay time to be around 40 hours. Other major releases in the gaming industry, which can be played for hundreds of hours, consider this duration shorter. But the way the game feels mechanically, promises players a beautiful world to immerse themself in for hundreds of hours.

It seems like the main plan for the devs was not to give players a long game. But to give them an experience they enjoy and never forget. For players that find the game a little too steep, it’s understandable. Considering the game is a PlayStation 5 title, players can expect such a price tag. But for the hardcore dedicated fans of the Spider-verse the Collector’s Edition is a no-brainer.
