Nintendo Prepares to End Support for Four-Year-Old Fan Favorite Game as Super Mario Bros. Wonder Launch Draws Closer

Almost all Mario titles are incredibly popular within the community. Even pretty older titles have a strong recurring number of players who keep coming back to their favorite games. However, it looks like one of these older titles will not be receiving any more updates from next month. With the upcoming 2D Super Mario Bros. Wonder creating a lot of hype, Nintendo has announced no new materials will be added to the Mario Kart Tour mobile game after its final contents arrive next month.

The news will definitely come as a surprise to fans. Many Mario fans can vouch that Mario Kart is among the best racing games out there on any platform. Mario Kart Tour continues to be a hit and the new information will surely break some hearts.

Mobile games have become a big thing in the gaming industry. Many of the biggest devs see a significant portion of their revenues coming from mobile games. However, Nintendo was never very big on mobile platforms, and the latest news shows they probably are shifting focus from mobile games as well.

With Nintendo claiming that no new materials will be added to Mario Kart Tour, it may also hint that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe receiving its final DLC. Since the Switch title shares much of its content with the mobile game Mario Kart Tour, fans already fear the worst.

Nintendo recently shared a message with Mario Kart Tour players. The message reads, “No new courses, drivers, karts, or gliders will be added following the Battle Tour starting 04/10/2023. We hope you continue to enjoy playing Mario Kart Tour.” With this, Nintendo will stop making more content for five out of their eight games that are available for players on mobile devices.

The focus shifts to The Super Mario Bros. Wonder

Nintendo has already been creating a lot of hype for their next Mario title. The upcoming Super Mario Bros. Wonder will be a 2D platformer that will come with a lot of new features. At the August Nintendo Direct, we got to see many things about the game including playable characters, their abilities, and a new area called the Flower Kingdom.

However, many fans believe that the Super Mario Bros. may be difficult to master, given how the demo looked. Despite that, Mario fans are stoked nonetheless about the upcoming game. Phil Spencer, head of Xbox, also had some appreciative words to say about The Super Mario Bros. Wonder and fans can’t wait for the game to finally arrive.
