For making sure this new Zelda title tick the right boxes, Eiji Aonuma and his team decided to approach the game from a whole different angle. Hidemaro Fujibayashi, the director of the game, stated that there was no narrative formed when the team was working on the game at the beginning.

“Once we got to the point where we felt confident in the gameplay experience, that’s when the story starts to emerge,” stated Fujibayashi regarding how they crafted Tears of the kingdom. This is quite a unique approach that the developers took.

In the current era, many modern games give prioritized value to the narrative when the game starts to bud. But Nintendo decided to stray away from that common concept and this might have been the successive jolt that Tears of the Kingdom received, which reciprocated as positive responses.
