Gambling has been a topic of serious discussions since the last few months on the streaming platform Twitch. While it was present for a long time, increasing cases of scams were recently brought into the spotlight, as many renowned streamers came together asking for a ban.

Eventually, Twitch officials have now decided to shut down gambling activities. The platform just released a message regarding the new announcement on gambling-based sites that are part of Twitch. It looks like they won’t be allowed on the platform anymore. However, the community thinks otherwise, with most of the fans being unsatisfied with the new decision.

Twitch comes with a new stance on gambling activities

Following the announcement from the officials of the streaming website, streamer Jake Lucky shared his joy on his account on Twitter. He’s one of the renowned creators, among Pokimane and others, who asked for the ban on gambling.

In their message, Twitch‘s team mentioned that gambling “has been a big topic of discussion in the community, and something we’ve been actively reviewing since our last policy update in this area.”

Twitch acknowledged that there are sites that are not regulated and are causing more harm to the people. Thus, the platform will come up with a policy on October 18th to “prohibit streaming of gambling sites that include slots, roulette, or dice games that aren’t licensed either in the U.S. or other jurisdictions that provide sufficient consumer protection.”

Fans think there are still loopholes around the policy

Meanwhile, fans had a different response to Jake Lucky’s tweet on Twitch’s announcement. Most of the users on social media expressed lukewarm reactions to the streamer’s tweet containing the message. They think that gambling is not fully banned barring the sites that aren’t regulated.

Fans don’t think that the new policy will be effective at all. “they officially aren’t though are they, it literally says they’ll still allow gambling,” wrote one user who clearly seemed confused and annoyed.
