Fans have been enjoying this Bethesda masterpiece for over 10 years now, and it refuses to get old!

Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age

Yes, it’s a JRPG, but it’s the first game in the series that has the potential to appeal to the masses. For every person who loves themselves, a vibrant adventure unlike any other.

For people who like to befriend weird monsters and sometimes even kill them, this game is a must-have!

Shin Megami Tense: V

Yet another JRPG would consume numerous hours of its players. A very dark story about the destruction of the world as we know it. The game unfolds as the main character makes their way to a very dark future and attempts to save the world from destruction.

That’s not it either; this game offers an excellent turn-based combat system alongside that famous bartering system. Players can barter with enemies and even convince those monsters to side with them in the process.

Octopath Traveler

Classic Final Fantasy titles are now a thing of the past. That turn-based combat, that overhead travel through the map of the game—everything is gone. But Square Enix brought it back in an excellent way. A beautiful pixelated world is full of exciting characters and visuals.

This one is for the biggest JRPG enthusiasts out there!

Persona 5: Royal

A perfect mix of funky music, a social simulator, and an excellent dungeon crawler. This latest installment in the world-renowned Persona series has been critically acclaimed for a reason: people love pretty much everything about this game.

Its story, its characters, its music, and even its UI are quite unique indeed!

Ni No Kuni Wrath of the White Witch Remastered

Everyone knows about Studio Ghibli, the esteemed animation company that has produced numerous excellent anime films over the years. Level 5, the developer of this game, partnered with that movie studio to produce this uniquely charming role-playing game.

The game is about a small kid going on a mysterious journey to save someone very close to his heart. The game is equally enjoyable to play as it is interesting to talk about.

Darkest Dungeon

A very good-looking yet very dark roguelike role-playing game. A game about a mansion and its massive dungeon that players are tasked with exploring. As they go through it room by room, they face formidable enemies.

Sometimes they win, other times they lose, and when a party member dies, they stay dead; it’s not a game about second chances. A hard yet fun game that would keep players on their toes at all times.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

It is pretty surprising that we got to this point without even mentioning this game. But this game deserved to be on this list nonetheless. Considered to be one of the best RPGs of modern times, some say it’s a miracle it even works on the Nintendo Switch.

Play this game for its gut-wrenching story and its open world that’s unlike any other.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3

Yet another marvel from Nintendo, Monolith Soft worked tirelessly on this huge game. A game about a bunch of teenagers who slowly uncover a very interesting mystery about the world around them. And as they do so, they go through a beautiful world and complete numerous quests and sidequests.

A true JRP in some form and a beautiful open-world game in another.
