Nintendo published its annual report earlier today, recording the highest amount of software sales ever made by the company, to date. The sole credit goes to Pokemon and the OLED version of the Nintendo Switch.
The Japanese giant released three games in the previous year for the Pokemon Series. Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl made their way first and were later backed by Pokemon Legends: Arceus. All of these games did pretty well as they bagged the first two positions in Nintendo‘s First-Party titles.

Additionally, the gaming unit topped Nintendo’s hardware charts as it balanced the company’s sales growth. But let’s not get too much into it as we have something much more exciting for you.
Arceus climbs its way up to the top
Nintendo published Pokemon Legends: Arceus for Switch around the end of January 2022. The focus of the action role-playing game was on the community-drawn Pokemon first introduced in Generation four. The game broke many records right after its release. First, the title sold over $6.5 million just in the first week, becoming the highest sold Pokemon game on Twitch.

Secondly, the game bagged the second position in Nintendo’s First-party titles list, way above Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury. It might come as a shock to many, but the game has sold more copies in just four months than Super Mario 3D ever did. If we look at the numbers for the years 21-22, Legends sold 12.64 million titles compared to Super Mario, which managed 9.43 million.
