Ever since he stepped away from Formula One, Fernando Alonso has insisted that he will be back. Ahead of the 2020 season, the Spaniard confirmed that he is targetting a return in 2021.
Since leaving, Alonso has taken part in the World Endurance Championship, attempted the Indy 500 again and competed at the 2020 Dakar Rally.
When he left, it was interesting to note that the former world champion never denied rumours of a potential return to F1 in the future. When he spoke to F1 Racing magazine, he said, “I have not finished with F1. 2021 is a good opportunity and I feel fresh and ready now. It’s something I’m going to try.”

If the former McLaren does return in 2021, he will be 39-years old. However, he refuses to believe that the passage of time will stop him in his tracks.
However, he noted that Sunday’s are usually slower than Saturday, so the demand is less. He even predicted that the 18-inch wheels will change every driver’s style and it will be a new learning curve.
