With seven dominating world titles and countless other records, Lewis has been among the greatest drivers in Formula 1. While in NASCAR, we have our very own Dale Earnhardt Jr. the 15-time NASCAR’s Most Popular Driver Award winner. Recently, Dale provided an interesting take on the former F1 champ. And in doing so, he gave an example of another major motorsport entity, Jimmie Johnson.

Dale was recently asked a question on his YouTube channel about how Lewis would fare out in NASCAR if he chose to drive in it later on.

“I don’t think that he is gonna come to NASCAR, I think that once he’s done, I think once a driver like that, you know gets to the end of the road there they got other things in their life they want to do. He might surprise us,” he responded.

Earnhardt Jr. also referred to the legendary Jimmie Johnson, calling him “an anomaly” in reference to his career in Indycar after being successful in NASCAR.

“You know Jimmie’s an anomaly, where he goes and tries to create recreate his whole you know this whole new version of himself in IndyCar driver and that’s a tough tough thing to do at that point in your life.

So according to Dale, someone with the success of Hamilton, “goes and relaxes and enjoys himself and finds other things, maybe there are other things he’s passionate about that he starts putting more time into.” Dale also mentioned that he might even become a broadcaster, but reiterated that he didn’t know.

If Lewis does come into NASCAR, there is no doubt he’d exhibit great prowess and skills behind the wheel. While these are only hypothetical, we actually had a Formula one Champion race in NASCAR briefly before.

Kimi Räikkönen’s NASCAR journey

‘The Iceman’ raced in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series on 1 occasion back in 2011. That was during his sabbatical from Formula One. He raced at Charlotte Motor Speedway with the Kyle Busch Motorsports team, finishing in 15th place on his debut.
