What happened at the last F1 race in Imola?
F1 returned to the track in Imola last year, for the first time since the 2006 San Marino Grand Prix. Qualifying didn’t have too many surprises, with the most notable aspect being Valtteri Bottas taking home pole position ahead of his Mercedes teammate Lewis Hamilton. Although Pierre Gasly’s epic hot lap to put his car in P4 is also a worthy mention.
Tha race itself wasn’t very eventful with Hamilton taking the win, thanks to a lucky pit-stop under the virtual safety car. However, towards the end of the race, things began to heat up with Max Verstappen in hot pursuit. But the Red Bull man’s race was ended by a puncture with 13 laps to go. This opened the door for one surprise podium maker, Daniel Ricciardo, who got his second podium of the season.
