Aston Martin driver and four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel took everyone by surprise when joined Instagram today. Many of his fans were speculating how the German driver would use this platform, as he had previously stayed away from social media.
But to everyone’s surprise, he announced his retirement from the sport on his platform. His announcement left his fans and the sport, in general, shattered. Everyone had assumed that he would have continued for a few more seasons, given his recent turn in form. But everyone is curious to find out what will be the next chapter in his life. Will he return to sport as F1 personnel or a TV pundit?

“Definitely not seeing myself on the pit wall. Or even worse, jumping up and down the paddock [as a pit lane reporter]. So I think in this regard, once it’s done, it’s done. I think it’s healthier to move on and do something else,” revealed Vettel.

However, he divulged a little deeper about what he plans to do after his racing career is over.

Vettel revealed he has to be patient and find something other than motorsports that he is good at. He revealed how the world of motorsports has impacted his life and expressed that he is not sure what life after F1 looks like for him.
“I have done motor racing for my whole life, and it gives you security, in terms of the schedule being made by other people. I don’t know what life after Formula 1 looks like and I don’t think any sportsperson knows what the next life looks like.”

But there is hope. When asked if he plans to continue racing in the future, he said, “It’s what I love, so you never know. Maybe I’ll keep racing, but maybe not right away,” said the F1 champion.
It won’t be right to see him stop racing altogether, but hopefully, his fans all around the world will flock in if he continues in other categories. F1 will surely miss one of its greatest ever drivers on the track.
