“A Lot of Needles…”: Lewis Hamilton Opens up on Painful Reality of F1 Struggles

Porpoising has been a major issue for teams this season. The bouncing and bobbing on the straights has led to a lot of complaints from the drivers. Mercedes is one team that has suffered this issue on a different magnitude. The Azerbaijan GP was an especially painful one for driver Lewis Hamilton.

The issue of porpoising was so bad in Baku that it put him in doubt for the next race in Montreal. Speaking about the issue, he said, (it was) “A really worrying experience”. He further explained how lifting on the straights helped with the problem. However, he also added, “In the race you can’t lift, you thinking of all the points the team needs…”

Talking about his recovery, Hamilton said, “It has taken like these 3 weeks to make me feel great again”. He also outlined his recovery plan and said, “A lot of yoga, a lot of needles been stuck in my back”

However, since then, Hamilton has gone on to secure 2 podium finishes in Canada and more recently at Silverstone. Hamilton put on a near-flawless performance at his home Grand Prix, that almost saw him walk away with the win.

Record-breaking British GP for Lewis Hamilton

The Briton had a terrible time on the streets of Baku with the porpoising. It left him in such a state that his participation was doubtful in the next race at Montreal. However, he not only took part but also finished on the podium in Montreal. Additionally, last week at his home Grand Prix at Silverstone, he nearly took the win.

The Briton went on to finish P3 at Silverstone. In doing so, he broke another record in his already glittering career. Hamilton now has the most podium finished on home soil, with 13. It was also his 9th consecutive podium finish at the circuit.
