Advocate for Peace, Lewis Hamilton Once Threatened to Resort to Violence Against Beloved F1 Friend: “We Should Do It…Face to Face”

Lewis Hamilton, the harbinger of all things right, hasn’t always been the poised upholder of rights that you see today. He kept his cool even when Alonso made some unparliamentary remarks about his ex-teammate after the Spa clash last year. Quite contradictory to his current persona, where he doesn’t even put one foot out of line, the Briton, when he was only a triple world champion, let his guard down to ask his rival to sort the matter outside the track like men.

Two of the GOATs fought for the world title in Baku in 2017. During the safety car, Sebastian Vettel, out of frustration, drove into his chief rival on track, Lewis Hamilton. The German reasoned the apparent wrongdoing out when he said that he felt Hamilton was purposely driving slow before the safety restart. Complaining over the brake testing by Hamilton, Vettel rammed into his car. The world awaited for the two to erupt in unprecedented animosity. That held true at least till the post-race interviews.

In an interview after the clash, a journalist questioned Hamilton about the incident, “He said that it was a point to prove about being men, he felt that you brake checked him that was going to be his revenge. What should the sanctions be? “

To which Hamilton replied, “Well, I mean, if he wants to prove that he’s a man, I think we should do it out of the car, face to face.”

In an unexpected turn of events, the duo had hatched a strong bond post the very incident which could have left them sour towards each other for a lifetime.

Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel, now older and mature, look back at the infamous Azerbaijan incident rather fondly. The German who has hung his boots for now, during his last press conference, threw some light on the nuisance that he was back in the day. To add to the upwelling emotions of fans, the duo finished each other’s sentence to give the world an ‘aww’ moment.

Hamilton, in a funny undertone, called Vettel a nuisance to which the latter agreed. Recalling his wrong the German began, “Actually, I think from that moment onwards…,” to which Hamilton chimed in saying “… our friendship got better.”
