F1 drivers dedicate themselves to the craft of racing from a very young age. Naturally, the world of motorsport is the only tangible reality for them. But many times fans and drivers alike have wondered how their life would’ve panned out if not for Formula 1. When Max Verstappen was strapped into a Formula 1 car back in 2015, it was clear that he was a prodigy. It was as if he was born to do this. Be that as it may, the 25-year-old only went ahead to demolish the F1 field in the coming years because he chickened out of his other academic passion.

To succeed in a sport like F1, one needs the utmost dedication to their craft. Through the years, the Dutchman has shown his relentlessness behind the wheel. That being said, Verstappen really only found his mojo when he was dedicating himself to racing.

In a Q&A video on Red Bull’s Instagram account, the 2x champion was asked what he would be doing if motorsports didn’t exist. “That would be very tricky for me because I literally grew up seeing all kinds of racing,” began Verstappen. But he did have a pretty interesting backup plan as a young boy.

“I said when I was, like when I was still at school, I wanted to maybe be like a lawyer.” But the 2x champion wasn’t in the mood to burn the midnight oil to make this dream of his come true. He revealed, “I mean but it’s a lot of work though. Like when I properly looked into it, I was like, maybe not!”

That elusive courtroom life may not come true for Verstappen. But the Dutchman has some other plans, which means his stint in F1 may not be for long.

F1 isn’t the only sport Max Verstappen dreams to conquer

Safe to say, if the trajectory that Verstappen has had in the past two years can be maintained, soon, he would’ve conquered the sport. Even though the jury is still out on whether he can match or even break Lewis Hamilton‘s legacy in the sport, he is still a bona fide legend of this sport. But Verstappen may not even stick around for that long.

Verstappen told Formula1.com, “I’m having a lot of fun with what I’m doing right now and I’m still in F1 for a couple more years. I’m signed [with Red Bull] until 2028. After that, it also depends how everything is going but I will probably try to do a few different kinds of racing because it’s important also to try different things.”
