In F1’s rich history, many legends have come and gone, but only a few of them managed to achieve icon status. Lewis Hamilton is one of those few drivers who has successfully managed to become one of those people. In a recent podcast, Pierre Gasly didn’t shy away from praising Hamilton for his impact on the transformation of F1.

Arguably speaking, among all the young drivers at the moment, the Alpine driver is the one who has gone through a lot. Especially considering the last five years. However, before heading off to the cold temperature of Las Vegas, he sat down for a podcast episode, where he shared his honest thoughts on Lewis Hamilton‘s impact on the sport.

Talking about his personal growth since his F1 debut, he stated, “When I came into Formula 1, I didn’t have this awareness of how big the sport is and all the opportunities that it can bring. Actually, through small actions or messages that you’re going to vehiculate through our sports, you can have a bigger positive impact elsewhere in the world, whether it’s connected to our sport or whether it’s completely disconnected and helping people in need. That’s something which I feel is quite fulfilling, not as a driver, but more as a person.”

When asked whether other drivers on the grid think alike, he added, “Lewis [Hamilton] is very inspiring in that sense because he’s involved in bringing spotlight on many different topics and I think it’s quite good for our young generation that we understand the power. Obviously, he’s got the biggest community, the biggest exposure, but we get a glimpse of what’s possible.”

In a recent video with Tony Parker, Gasly revealed some quite shocking experiences from his days of F2. He stated, “There is a lot of politics. I think I had to work my way to F1 in a pretty difficult fashion, I was in F2, which is sort of like the second division. So, you gotta win to make it to Formula 1. I won the championship and still didn’t make it to Formula 1!”

The French driver hasn’t had a straightforward journey to make his dreams come true. But amidst all the hardships and challenges he has faced, he can stand strong with pride, thanks to his unwavering determination. Making him more than just a talented F1 driver, a resilient human being.
