Just before the current season’s summer break, Sebastian Vettel shocked the world of F1. The four-time world champion announced his retirement in his first social media post. The retirement news, albeit shocking, felt like a long time coming, especially after Vettel’s time with Aston Martin.
However, despite announcing his retirement just past midway through the current season, the German is showing no signs of slowing down. The Aston Martin man is as dedicated and focused on the project at hand as he’s ever been. Aston Martin’s performance director Tom McCullough has revealed this.

McCullough said, “He really is the ultimate professional. Maybe he’s a little more relaxed, but I don’t see any difference in the way he behaves in the technical department or in the way he drives the car.” (Translated using Google translate)
McCullough also expressed his gratitude for working with the 53-time Grand Prix winner.
“Sebastian is almost a machine. He is very thoughtful and very strong in technical development. He has brought a lot to the team in the way we operate and how we look at certain things. It’s great fun being with him, but he really knows how to raise morale,” he added.

The performance director also talked about Fernando Alonso as Vettel’s replacement. The Silverstone-based outfit did not compromise on the experience and hunger front by acquiring Alonso’s services.
“We see what he does weekly at Alpine,” said McCullough. “We are really looking forward to welcoming him to our team so we can see what we can learn from him and how he can take us further as a team.”
