So far this season, Scuderia Ferrari has been on the back foot. However, the actual truth is that this is a massive understatement. From a championship-challenging team, Ferrari has found itself right in the thick of the midfield table.

It has been 13 years since its last Drivers’ Championship and 17 years since its dominant Michael Schumacher era, came to an end.

Kimi Raikkonen brought home the prancing horse’s last Drivers’ title, but that cabinet has been locked up for a long time. Since then, Fernando Alonso, Felipe Massa, Raikkonen again, and Sebastian Vettel failed to recapture that magic.

His inner Ferrari star is trying to rise, however, the Ferrari SF1000 is severely stunting the process. In the massive blame game, poor old Mattia Binotto has had most of it heaped on him.

He is trying to keep the faith, but there is only so much that he can do. The good news is that there are a few of the higher-ups who believe in him.

Can Ferrari turn its fortunes around?

One of them is Ferrari Chairman John Elkann, who has complete confidence in the team, especially on Mattia Binotto. He told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“Total trust! Also because Mattia Binotto, who has taken the helm of the Scuderia for a year, has all the skills and characteristics to start a new winning cycle.

After three races, Scuderia Ferrari has had lackluster results, in spite of Charles Leclerc sneaking onto the podium. Admittedly, there was a lot of luck involved in the season-opening Austrian Grand Prix.

Since then, neither driver managed to crack into the top 5, and have been eliminated in Q2 at least once. Truthfully, nobody really expects this from a team of Ferrari’s caliber.

The bar is just set higher for a team that boasts of a rich history and has won several titles, Driver’s and Constructor’s.
