Melbourne is the home of Oscar Piastri and Daniel Ricciardo hails from Perth and this makes it an interesting race, as it is a rare event, where drivers battle it out in the southern hemisphere. And with a change on the side of the equator comes unique weather conditions.

With weather being a huge factor that plays into the outcome of the race, it is important to know when it is time to bring out the umbrellas for the rain or just one for the sunlight. For now, we have the weather forecast for the Australian GP race weekend, and there is good news for F1 fans and teams alike as there are low chances of rain. Although there might be a sprinkle during the FP3 and qualifying, the race day conditions are expected to be dry.

March 22, Friday (FP1 and FP2):

  • Forecast: Sunny with a light breeze. This means fans can enjoy clear skies and good visibility for both practice sessions.
  • Temperature: Expected to be around 22°C (71°F), providing comfortable conditions for drivers and spectators.
  • Chance of precipitation: Low, at 10%, indicating minimal likelihood of rain during these sessions.

March 23, Saturday (FP3 and Qualifying):

  • Forecast: Light rain showers, with conditions expected to improve as the day progresses. Fans can expect wet track conditions initially, with the possibility of the track drying up later.
  • Temperature: Slightly cooler compared to Friday, with temperatures around 19°C (66°F).
  • Chance of precipitation: Higher at 30%, indicating a moderate chance of rain affecting the sessions.

March 24, Sunday (Race Day):

  • Forecast: Sunny intervals with a light breeze. This indicates a mix of sun and clouds, with generally good weather conditions for the race which means there will be no rain during the race.
  • Highest temperature: Expected to reach around 20°C (68°F), providing comfortable racing conditions.
  • Chance of precipitation: Very low, at less than 5%, indicating almost no chance of rain during the race.

The Australian Grand Prix is hosted at Melbourne’s Albert Park, which is made into a circuit to experience the pinnacle of racing. The circuit is 5.2 kilometers long with many high-speed turns and tight corners. Drivers will not only be racing on the streets of the city but also through the parkland.

Drivers can be found going at average lap speeds of 235 km/h on this street circuit which fuels the excitement in the race. Turn numbers 11 and 12 are infamous for bringing out the most from the driver to maintain pace after such a quick maneuver.

Although the street tracks are touched up before the race, the street setting will introduce terrain that might burn out most of the tires.
