Alpine has had a tough couple of weeks. Who would’ve thought something like this could happen just weeks after Alpine received $218 funding from multiple investment groups? Earlier this week, Laurent Rossi leaving the role of Alpine’s CEO came out. Recently, Otmar Szafnauer and Alan Permane, the TP and Sporting Director have also been let go by Alpine. Now, the new TP makes a stone-hearted confession to justify the broken promises that Alpine made to Otmar Szafnauer. What did the new TP say?

Otmar Szafnauer just a couple of days back suggested how Luca De Mayo is heavily involved in F1 and has given Otmar Szafnauer 100 races to get the team back to the top. However, less than 40 races into Szafnauer’s reign, the TP was sacked as Alpine broke the 100 races’ promises. To justify the sacking, the Interim TP Bruno Famin made a harsh statement suggesting Szafnauer’s philosophy and schedule didn’t match with the teams’. 

According to Motorsport-Total.com, Bruno Famin said “We weren’t on the same line or on the same schedule as to how to get back forward or reach the level of performance that we were aiming for, so we decided to go our separate ways. I think we have a different view of the way we do it. Of course also in terms of the schedule, but I don’t think we have exactly the same view how we do things.”

The Belgium GP will be the last race for Otmar Szafnauer and Alan Permane in their respective roles for Alpine. With the Mid Season break approaching after the Belgium GP, Alpine needs to find themselves a good replacement. 

Is the former Ferrari Boss interested in managing Alpine?

For the time being, the responsibilities of Team Principal and Sporting Director have been given to senior people within the team. Bruno Famin, the head of the power unit will act as Interim TP whereas Alpine Academy Director Julian Rouse will be the interim Sporting Director. However, Alpine does have an interest and experienced TP wanting to join them.

Former Ferrari Boss, Mattia Binotto is said to be interested in Ferrari. According to Formula1.com, sources suggest that Binotto is very keen on making a comeback to F1 and Alpine could very well be the way in for the Italian.
