Charles Leclerc, over the years, has proved his loyalty and love for the Scuderia. The Monegasque, on many occasions, has expressed his dream of winning a championship wearing the Ferrari colors. However, Ferrari hasn’t won a championship in a decade and a half now. Amid all this, Leclerc’s dream of bringing Ferrari back gets a boost as the Monegasque is reported to have finalized a five-year extension with Ferrari.

Charles Leclerc signed with Ferrari with the hopes of winning a championship. However, the Scuderia haven’t been able to provide a title-challenging car. Adding to the misery have been the strategic blunders and the unforced errors. One must be frustrated after such a thing, but Leclerc is as loyal as a driver gets. He doesn’t only want to win a championship with Ferrari but also bring the team back to where it deserves to be – at the forefront of the championship.

Earlier this week, Ferrari chairman John Elkann revealed that both Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz will be staying at Ferrari for the foreseeable future. Contracts for both Ferrari drivers expire at the end of 2024. Nevertheless, there’s been a new development in Charles Leclerc’s contract situation. As reported by La Gazzetta, the Monegasque is reported to have signed a five-year extension with Ferrari. Despite the blunders, Leclerc will continue his dream of bringing Ferrari back to the front.

The contract will reportedly see Leclerc drive with Ferrari until the end of 2029. It is believed to be double the value of his current contract, i.e., $54 million a year. While Leclerc seems to be set for an extended partnership with Ferrari, the same cannot be said about Carlos Sainz.

Carlos Sainz and Ferrari have yet to form a mutual agreement on the duration of the contract.

Despite John Elkann suggesting that Carlos Sainz will stay at Ferrari after the 2024 season, there isn’t any mutual agreement between the Spaniard and the Maranello stable regarding his extension. La Gazzetta explains that Carlos Sainz wants the contract duration to be two years or more, whereas Ferrari wants to keep their options open and is reportedly offering a one-year contract.

Lando Norris’ McLaren contract expires at the end of 2025 and might be a possibility for Ferrari. Also, Carlos Sainz has been linked to an Audi move for the 2026 season. Putting all of these things in perspective, it is difficult to judge who or what will be the next move regarding Carlos Sainz’s contract.
