Christian Horner Anticipates Renewal of Infamous Red Bull-Mercedes F1 Rivalry in Upcoming Season

The 2022 season is officially underway! The teams took to the Barcelona track to test the 2022 cars for the first time. Although it is hard to decide a pecking order after the testing, Mercedes and Red Bull are still amongst the top teams. Red Bull team principal Christian Horner mentioned that their rivalry with Mercedes will continue in the upcoming season.

There was some doubt after an intense 2021 battle if the teams would be at their dominant self in the 2022 season. But they put all those doubts to rest after the 3 days in Barcelona testing.

We hope that there is going to be an equally exciting year: Christian Horner

As reported by GPFans, the Red Bull team boss mentioned that he expects to be fighting with the German team this season as well. He recognized that there could be other teams that could join them in the championship battle.

“Certainly, we hope that there is going to be an equally exciting year, ideally a little less exciting at times, but an exciting season ahead and I think there could be some other competitors joining that battle as well,” said Horner.

“Particularly with a clean sheet of paper with these brand new cars, it’s a complete reset. It’s arguably the biggest regulation change in the last 40 years, but I’m sure the intensity of the rivalry between the teams and the drivers will be as pertinent as ever,” Christian added.

Remarkably, even after their intense fight last season, both teams are still in a dominant position. It would be interesting to see if Red Bull are in the championship fight again. And it would surely be a pleasure for the fans to see the Bulls target the constructors’ title, alongside the driver’s title, as well.

The team definitely would have a fight in their hands, as Ferrari and McLaren could join them at the front. Hopefully, the 2022 season can live up to its expectation and deliver the close racing that it promises.
