Giving your son a skill is better than giving him a thousand pieces of gold. Jos Verstappen taught Max everything he knew about racing and raised a champion coupled with a bit of hard love. Many assumed the hard love to be a form of abuse, but it was just Jos Verstappen doing what was best for his son’s racing career. Regardless, the father-son duo was seen sharing a hilarious moment, putting all the rumors of a rift in bed.

The rumors of tension between Max Verstappen and his father have ignited once again after the Saudi Arabian GP, where Max was unable to overtake Sergio Perez and win the race. Jos Verstappen failed to congratulate Checo on his victory and was seen with a stern look on his face. There have always been rumors of hard love between the father-son duo. Jos Verstappen once left Max station after an argument during the karting days and didn’t speak to him for weeks.

Jos Verstappen recently came out suggesting how never abused the two-time-world champion. However, a video was recently posted on Instagram where the Verstappen family was seen having lunch and sharing banter. Max Verstappen talks about his appetite and Jos replies with the fact that if he eats that much, he won’t be able to fit in his rally car. The 25-year-old advised his father to fit a bathtub in his car to which Jos responds that he already has trouble getting into his car.

According to the video posted by Verstappencom on Instagram, Max Verstappen said, “If I wanted, I could eat that salad all by myself, I would want that too and finish that too. And then some soup.” Jos replied, “If I did that I would not fit in my rally car anymore.” Then Max suggested, “You could install a bathtub as a seat, a wide one.” Jos then explained, “I’m already having trouble getting in and out.” The conversation ended with the 25-year-old saying “Luckily you can practice a lot getting out of your car when you get stuck again.”

The video ended with the whole family laughing at Max Verstappen’s comments about his father practicing getting out of the car in case of an emergency. This comment was possibly made with reference to the Fire Jos Verstappen was stuck in during his Benetton days. This video puts an end to any rumors of tension between the two. Recently, Jos Verstappen also denied the fact that he abused Max and told the reality of the situation.

Max Verstappen’s cold and aggressive nature is often blamed on his upbringing. However, Jos Verstappen denied all rumors of him abusing his son. But yes, he was hard on his son because he knew what it took to reach the very top of a sport. And hence conditioned Max Verstappen in such a way. It was his plan all along to nurture Max in a way that makes him a champion.

According to grandpx.news, Jos Verstappen said, “There are people who say I’m a bad father because I abused my child. I never abused him! I raised him, I was hard on him. That was my plan, Many people cannot imagine what it takes to reach the absolute top level of a sport.”
