Daniel Ricciardo is no stranger to the podium and F1 fans know him for his iconic celebration, “The Shoey”. The first time the world got to see the celebration was at the German Grand Prix back in 2016, and it continued with many people emulating him, or even drinking from his boot.

Recently, the racer opened up about and how proud he was when a “Sir” drank out of it and he wasn’t referring to his rival, Lewis Hamilton.

During his time at Renault, Ricciardo got on the podium twice, bringing back his post-race ceremony. He placed third in the German Grand Prix and just three weeks later came back to the podium at the Italian Grand Prix.

In an article by SquareMile, Ricciardo said, “I’m going to bring that up at some point! You know, I thought it would literally just be a one-off thing. I got the photo, sent it to my mates, cool; job done.”

“But I’m actually glad that it’s done what it’s done. I mean, to ever think I would have a Sir drink out of my shoe is pretty cool. I’m not talking about Lewis, I’m talking about Patrick Stewart,” Ricciardo concluded.

Zak Brown places a bet with Daniel Ricciardo

The 31-year-old had a bet with his old boss, Cyril Abiteboul, which was if he got the podium, Cyril would get a tattoo. Ricciardo kept his end of the deal and registered two podiums, but Abiteboul left the team before he could get inked.

Now with McLaren, Brown has made a deal with Ricciardo that if he gets on the podium, he will get the keys to Dale Earnhardt Sr’s 1984 Wrangler Chevrolet Monte Carlo.
