Eddie Jordan Sees Lando Norris as the British Heir to Lewis Hamilton’s F1 Throne

One driver who has been in fine form this season is, without a doubt, Lando Norris. The British driver has been a driving force at McLaren in the first half of the season, picking up three podiums so far. Hence, former Team Principal Eddie Jordan thinks that Norris will be a future world champion.
As of now, Britain’s Lewis Hamilton is ruling the grid, but Jordan thinks that in a matter of years, it will be Norris who will be bagging world titles for his country.

The McLaren driver is just 21-years-old and has shown a lot of potential. This season, Norris has stepped up his game, and therefore finds himself in third place in the driver’s standings with 113 points. So it is no surprise that the Team Principal of the iconic Jordan F1 team sees potential in the British driver.
Speaking on an episode of the podcast, F1 Nation with TC, Pinks & Damon, Eddie said, “I do like Norris. He is very special, having said that, Pierre Gasly surprises me every time I see him in the car.

Speaking about who can match Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton on the grid, he added, “There is a very few, that can actually come up to Max and Lewis’s standards, and I think Norris is the one who stands out. I think we are looking for another world champion in Britain. There was Jenson, there was you (Damon Hill) and previous people obviously, dozens before that. But, the next lot, you will have to be looking at Lando Norris.”

Can Norris have an even better first half of the season?

The 21-year-old has certainly stepped up his game for the 2021 season. Norris has finished in the top-five in nine of the races so far, only having a disappointing race in France and in Hungary.
With Belgian Grand Prix at Spa approaching, Norris will hope to get a good start to the second half of the season. He will hope to seize some points and help his Woking-based outfit get ahead in the constructor’s championship.
