Exiled Russian F1 Driver Nikita Mazepin Set To Make a Racing Comeback

Russian driver Nikita Mazepin is making a comeback to racing after being dropped by F1 at the start of the season. The former Haas driver will race in the Silk Way Rally event in Russia in July.

As per GrandPx.news, the event will take place in Moscow and will be in the memory of Russian Emperor Peter the Great’s 350th anniversary. He is training alongside the likes of former Williams driver Sergey Sirotkin. Tass news agency confirmed the reports of his participation in the event.

“Mazepin plans to take part in the Silk Way rally,” said the Spokesperson of Nikita.

Why Did Toyota Leave F1?

At the beginning of the 2022 season, F1 and Haas dropped Nikita amidst the Russian-Ukraine conflict. He criticized the manner in which the American team axed him but hoped that he can return to the sport.

Nikita Mazepin is hopeful of a possible F1 return in the future

Mazepin revealed he did not like the manner in which he was let go by the sport. The former Haas driver revealed that he was a victim of the ‘cancel culture’ amidst the global tension between Russia and Ukraine. Moreover, Nikita mentioned that one day he hopes to make a comeback in F1, as it was his dream.

“Of course, I would love to get back to the sport. I feel that I’ve got a lot of unfinished business there. But I need to wait until things cool down. And I don’t even know who I can get back to because, you know, Haas has obviously done what they did with playing, not the cleanest game, in my opinion. But it’s different for me,” said the former F1 driver.

Although he hopes he will make a return to the pinnacle of motorsports in the future. It would be difficult for him to find a team if he makes a comeback in Formula One soon.

So for his fans, it is nice to see him racing once again, albeit just in Russia. But it could mean that he might get a chance to race another motorsport series like rallying in the future.
